All About Self-Care

What makes Self-Care so important?

Self-Care is only important because it has the answers to the results we are looking for. Even in the name itself, there is a bit of complexity. I know how to take care of myself but to get sick, stressed, overwhelmed, hurt, to look out only for myself or only for others to be mad for more than a day. all of these things if you have ever experienced them more than once tell us you still have a lot to learn about Self-Care. It is in fact thinking we know things we don’t quite know that gets us into most health-related challenges.

Let’s start with the fact that when we say “health” we think of the body being healthy and of youthfulness. What is missing? health has 3 major parts physical, mental, and emotional. These 3 parts are never separated and to change one you must change the others. On top of this unlike what we currently do try and fix them head-on and separately. We have to balance them by addressing all 3 simultaneously and at different intensities.

why is general health not improving?

to put it simply the only way it can not improve is if we are doing it wrong. When are missing a few parts of the puzzle so our solutions only half work? We were only just faced with the reality of this fact in the last few years. Every way of thought has a conclusion and now that we know this one, what will we do about it? We can do some really hard reflection or we can keep the system the same and add to it ignoring the root cause of the problem. It is the age-old battle nature says one thing man’s knowledge says something else and nature is right in the end.

If we were going to fix such a challenge what would we have to do? We would have to make emotional health number one with no exceptions. This would shift our health model from being illness focused to potential focused. With this shift innovations in all industries would result and we would be in better balance with ourselves, nature, and our neighbor.

The model needed to bridge the gap and focus our efforts is that of Self-Care. It looks to put humanity first and then repurpose technology to solve the price of the disconnected effect caused by years of technological advancement without the growth of the person creating the technology.

Emotional Debt

To purchase a material thing that requires a higher level of emotional experience than we currently have. This results in stress, burnout, and injury. Think of buying something you really can’t afford and then losing work for a month. The stress you feel in that situation is similar to the feeling you have when in emotional debt. Another example would be having the skills to manage a team of five people than over a short time having to manage a team of 20. Burnout is a must as the emotional requirement to take on this task has increased by more than 4x the original cost and the personal emotional resources were not gained beforehand.

The way we operate things in 2023 does not account for the emotional debt a job can place on a person taking on a job title. This is the major reason for injuries, stress, burnout, sick days, lack of employees using benefits, and lack of job satisfaction.

A good way to understand the emotional debt of a title and or person taking on the role is to have a Self-Care assessment done. in this way you can pick the right person for the job or support the right person you want to see in that role. on a personal level, it is always good to know where you stand when it comes to your own level of Self-Care and personal health.

the personal environment of health

This is a way of thinking that alines with one’s feeling thoughts and actions promoting the growth of the individual. Imagine taking a vacation to a place that has the right temperature, the right people, and the right feeling. All of a sudden you would find yourself taking on things that were once too stressful to take on, going after dreams you gave up on and in doing so becoming more of yourself. Now imagine this environment being firmly rooted inside of you. How would your life change? This is the understanding that goes along with the personal environment of health.

The major point from this perspective is that a person is not lazy or resisting the things that they want in life, it is that the path to getting there is unknown, and as soon as you enter into an environment that supports a person’s way of navigating life then change happens towards growth.

How do you get to the personal environment of health? by growth in the areas that are just outside of the way that you think. It does not seem to be much of an answer but it is the answer. If you need some more assistance with this personal journey then the best professional to see is a Self-Care Expert.

Emotional Nutrition

is the consumption and digestion of the content in a person’s internal and external environment filtered through their level of emotional experience (emotional maturity) eg media, activities, thoughts, social dynamics, relational dynamics, and self-identity

The emotional system is like an external stomach. If you listen it will tell you what emotional nutrition you need. It will give you a craving for one emotion or create

indigestion of another. It will seek a sustainable intake of the essential emotions in your daily routine. This stomach however is frequently malnourished. The only model that teaches us how to feed it is that of Self-Care Restoring Therapy.

Essential Restoration

Making whole the metaphysical structures that create or supports health in the individual. This can be done by way of creating an experience that builds this on the structure or making seen its existence from past experiences. For more on the background of this concept see Maslow’s B values

 Restoring Therapy

The experience of a thing is universal but its interpretation can be personal. All people when put in their situation of sadness because sad, universal. What that situation looks like can be different, personal. Not all experiences are supported by current occurrences. A compassionate hug is always a compensation hug. The degree to which  my reaction to this hug is in a different direction is the degree my emotional system is off balance. This means all experiences will be off in all situations concerning compassion. Therefore, restoring therapy would be indicated and a Self-Care program devised. The restoration of the experience of compassion is needed for the normal growth of the person. All limits in the area of growth create stress, burnout, pain, and the ability for the mind to break down life into growth-oriented experiences.
